This Privacy Notice – South Africa (“Notice”) forms part of and supplements and amends, as applicable, the Synexus Global Privacy Policy (“Policy”). This Notice applies solely to personal information processed in South Africa, provided that we alone or in conjunction with others, determine the purpose of and means for processing of such personal information. We provide this Notice to comply with our obligations in our capacity as a “Responsible Party” under the Protection of Personal Information Act 2013 (“POPIA”). The Responsible Party is Synexus Clinical Research South Africa (PTY) Limited (address: 60 Stamvrug Street, Val de Grace, Pretoria, 0184, South Africa), unless otherwise described in a separate consent form.
This Notice does not apply to information we collect, maintain, or process in our capacity as an “Operator” on behalf of other responsible parties. If your information has been submitted to us as part of our performance as an Operator and you would like to learn more about the handling of that information or exercise any rights you may have under the POPIA, please inquire with the responsible party directly.

Synexus has enacted internal policies, procedures and training programs designed to support compliance with these laws and this Policy. Our policies, procedures and training programs are reviewed on a regular basis, and overseen by a team of privacy professionals with senior executive oversight.

Export of Personal Information.

Recipients of your information may be outside of South Africa (e.g. in the United Kingdom, in the United States or in the European Union) and some of these countries do not provide the same standard of legal protection for your information as South Africa. We have put in place measures to ensure that adequate protection is provided by signing biding transfer agreements with the recipients in order to ensure that your data is adequately protected.  In any event, all parties involved in the management of your personal information are required to maintain confidentiality.

Your Rights.

You have the right to access all the information collected about you and, if applicable, ask for corrections. In certain circumstances you have the additional right to object to how your information is being handled or request deletion of your data. You have the right to withdraw your consent to the processing of your information, at which point your personal information held in our systems will be deleted. You may exercise these rights by using the forms described by the Information Regulator in Regulations Relating To The Protection of Personal Information (14 December 2018).
